About Morrow Church
A porch supper that
turned into a
church.

Our story
From a back porch to old Station 4.
Daniel and Imani Okoro started hosting a Sunday supper on their back porch off Brevard Road, with a Bible open between the casseroles. By the second summer the porch was sagging, and the guest list had outgrown the street.
In 2020 the congregation bought Station 4, a 1927 firehouse on Haywood Road that had sat empty for years. Volunteers rewired it, patched the hose tower and kept the brass pole. Today several hundred people call Morrow home, and on warm Sundays the bay doors still roll open to the sidewalk.

What we believe
Our convictions, without the jargon.
Morrow is a nondenominational church that stands on the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. In everyday words, it looks like this.
Creator and Father
Everything that exists was made on purpose by a God who keeps showing up for it.
Rescue through Jesus
Jesus took our place on the cross and walked out of the grave. In him we find forgiveness and a fresh start.
Scripture we can lean on
Through the Bible, God speaks to ordinary people. We study it out loud, wrestle with it and try to live by it.
Gift, not wage
Grace can’t be earned. You are free to watch, ask and doubt for as long as you need.
Belonging, not attending
Church is a people more than a program. That means shared meals, hard conversations and turning up for one another.
Good for the neighborhood
West Asheville should be a kinder place because Morrow is on Haywood Road.
Leadership
The people with keys to the bay doors.
Three of us are on staff. Everything else at Morrow runs on volunteers who came once and kept coming.

Daniel Okoro
Lead Pastor. Former line cook who still runs the Tuesday Table stove.

Lorraine Abernathy
Pastor of Care. Hospital chaplain for twenty years, now our resident listener.

Caleb Moreno
Students and Young Adults. Builds the fires and somehow remembers every name.
